Pedestrian in wheelchair hit, injuries not serious

A pedestrian riding in a wheelchair and struck by a car in front of the Kroger store on S. Monroe St. Tuesday afternoon sustained minor injuries.
Sheriff's deputies reported that the man, 63, was crossing S. Monroe in his wheelchair around 4:10 p.m. Tuesday when he was struck by a car that was headed on Jones and turning southbound onto S. Monroe. The man was taken to Mercy Memorial Hospital where he was treated for injuries that were not life threatening, said Sgt. Jeff Kemp. The man's wheelchair was crushed.
The female driver, 69, was cited by deputies for failing to yield.
