So what is this article insinuating Frank? This person is dead but it was his fault because he didn’t have reflectors and wasn’t in the marked crosswalk? Gee I don’t have reflectors on my chair so should I stay at home in the evening. Parking lots do not have marked crosswalks among the parked cars. So since I’m not driving a car again I better not go out shopping for food or anything else for that matter. I don’t have a personal shopper so I better not go out at all. A PERSON IS DEAD!! Someone needs to be held accountable. I am so tired of people not seeing us on the street but are totally aware of us in the stores…… usually willing to do anything to help us. I just don’t get it and am very tired of all of it. So if a child accidently falls or starts running away from the folks in an unmarked crosswalk or parking lot the parents should be cited? Please use your management skills to calm me down on this issue all over the USA. Hmm, wonder what they do in Europe? thx

Nice to hear from you Shirley!
I don't think the article is trying to insinuate anything. I'm a little concerned that the CHP noted the pedestrian was not in a, "marked" crosswalk. It is California and I think I'm well enough informed on California law to ask... Was he in an unmarked crosswalk? The law is the same!
We don't know whether he was in an intersection, what the lighting was at the nearest intersection or even whether reflectors would have saved the guy.
Again, it's California, his family needs a good lawyer!
I hate to say it, but not everyone in the store stops to help. Only the good! Lots just walk on by!
I remember our friend Ron's feelings about how those that walked overlooked those in wheelchairs. I think it applies here at some level.
My management skills suggest that you just be careful. Being aware of these accidents heightens your personal attention to the dangers of traveling about in your chair. We've been tracking this for years now and I bet our little network is one of the most cautious cliques in the nation.
